Payment Gateway Setup
Supported Payment Gateways:
1. Authorize.net - Use this gateway for processing credit card receipts (pre-authorization, pre-auth capture and final authorizations are supported). You will need to sign up for a Merchant Account with Authorize.net before beginning the setup process in AcctVantage.
Note: When setting up your Authorize.net account, it must be setup to accept CNP (card not present) or MOTO (Mail Order Telephone Order) transactions. It can also be setup as a "blended" account if you also need to be able to process CP (card present) transactions, but it must include MOTO/CNP in order to work with AcctVantage.
2. Cardpointe - Use this gateway for processing credit card receipts (pre-authorization, pre-auth capture and final authorizations are supported). You will need to sign up for an account with Cardpointe before beginning the setup process in AcctVantage.
3. Cardpointe POS - Use this gateway to process "card present" or "PIN debit" receipts via a supported POS terminal. You will need to sign up for an account with Cardpointe and have the POS terminal connected before beginning the setup process in AcctVantage.
4. PayPal - Use this gateway for capturing previously authorized PayPal receipts. You will need to sign up for a Business Account with PayPal before beginning the setup process in AcctVantage. Note: At this time, PayPal support is limited to prior-authorization capture for Sales Orders originating from BigCommerce.
Add a new Payment Gateway
- Navigate to Administration -> System Setup -> A/R & A/P.
- Click the ➕ in the Payment Gateways section to add a new gateway.
The Default Cash Account and Default Bank Charges Account are optional. They are used in the Credit Card Reconcile process.

Authorize.net
- Check the Enable box.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the Service Name = AuthorizeNet.
- Enter the API URL: https://secure.authorize.net
- Enter the API Login ID and Transaction Key. Both of these come from your Authorize.net account. See the green box below for instructions.
- Leave the Time Out and Loop Delay at their default settings.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Restart the AcctVantage Server.

- Enable (required): Enables the Authorize.net gateway.
- Test Mode (optional): Check this setting if you would like to process sample/test Receipts without actually capturing a charge. Test Mode can be toggled on/off at any time. (Note that the Receipt records are "live", it's just the CC authorization that is in test mode; it's best to use this in a sandbox copy of your AcctVantage data file.)
- Require AVS (optional): Enables Address Verification on credit card approvals. Refer to your credit card merchant account information for more details on whether you should or should not require AVS.
In order to get the Transaction Key and API Login ID from Authorize.net:
- Log in to your Authorize.net account.
- Click on Account (in the header).
- Click on Settings (in the left-hand sidebar).
- Click on API Credentials and Keys. This is the place to generate a new Transaction Key. You will also be able to see the API Login ID.
CardPointe
- Check the Enable box.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the Service Name = CardPointe.
- Enter the Site, Description, Username, Password and Merchant ID.
- Everything except the Description will be sent to you from Cardpointe. The Description can be any identifier that you want to enter (this just controls how the gateway will be displayed in System Setup).
- Click Test Connection to test the gateway.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Restart the AcctVantage Server.

- Enable (required): Enables the CardPointe gateway.
- Require AVS (optional): Enables Address Verification on credit card approvals. Refer to your credit card merchant account information for more details on whether you should or should not require AVS.
Cardpointe POS
On the Payment Gateway Setup tab, enter the following:
- Check the Enable box.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the Service Name = CardPointe POS Terminals.
- Enter the Site, Description, Authentication Key and Merchant ID.
- Everything except the Description will be sent to you from Cardpointe. The Description can be any identifier that you want to enter -- it is the display name for the payment gateway in System Setup.
- Go to the POS Terminal List tab to complete the setup.

- Click the Download Terminal List button. The list will be populated with any terminals that are connected to your CardPointe account.
- For each terminal that needs to be set up:
- Highlight the terminal in the list then click the Ping Terminal button to verify connectivity.
- Note: AcctVantage does not communicate directly with the POS terminal. The ping request is sent from the AV Client to Cardpointe via the API. Cardpointe then verifies that it can see the terminal.
- Check the Enable box.
- Repeat for each terminal.
- Highlight the terminal in the list then click the Ping Terminal button to verify connectivity.
- Click OK to save the changes.
- Restart the AcctVantage Server.
The fields at the bottom of this window are optional.
- Description: A description of the terminal.
- Terminal Welcome Message: An optional message that can be displayed upon startup of the terminal.
- Manufacturer Name & Terminal Model Number: These will auto-populate from the terminal list.
