Process a Receipt via Credit Card Terminal

AcctVantage now supports authorizing "card present" transactions via the Receipt screen.

This feature requires using a supported terminal with the CardPointe POS payment gateway.

Setup

Create the payment gateway

Follow these instructions -> Set up the payment gateway for CardPointe POS.

There are two different CardPointe payment gateways supported by AcctVantage. This feature requires the CardPointe POS gateway.

Create a new Receipt Type

Navigate to Accounts Receivable -> Receipt Types and create a new Receipt Type. This must be linked to the payment gateway you created above for CardPointe POS Terminals.

Process a credit card receipt via the terminal

  1. Navigate to Accounts Receivable -> Receipts, create a new Receipt and enter the Client Name.
  2. Select the Receipt Type that is linked to the CardPointe Terminal Gateway.
  3. Enter the Receipt Amount (i.e. the amount that will be charged to the credit card).
  4. Click the Run Card button.

  1. When you see Status: Connected to Terminal, click the Send to Terminal button.

  1. The customer can now swipe, tap or chip their card at the terminal.

If you need to change the Charge Amount, click Cancel Transaction to return to the Receipt entry screen.

  1. When the credit card charge is approved, the above dialog will close.
    • Authorization No. will be saved.
    • CC Authorization Status will change to Collected.
    • The button will change to View Status.
  2. Don't forget to apply the payment before saving the Receipt.

If the credit card charge is declined, you will be returned to the Receipt screen and the Authorization No. field will be blank.

If the transaction is cancelled, you'll see the message below and the Receipt will remain unpaid.
