Lead Sources
A Lead Source is a method for obtaining new customers (e.g. an advertisement in a periodical publication, a trade show, telemarketing or a radio/TV commercial).
In AcctVantage, the Lead Source area allows you to analyze how your marketing strategies are working. When entering new Prospects/Clients or Sales Orders, you can associate them with Lead Source, which will assist with evaluating the effectiveness of each lead source.
1. Create a new Lead Source and enter the details
Navigate to Sales ➤ Lead Source and click the ➕ to create a new record. Enter the details for the lead source.
Lead Source detail
- Name: The name of the Lead Source.

Campaign: Usually defined as an overall marketing effort for a project. For example, “Spring 2024” to note the advertising campaign for current seasonal offerings. A campaign can be linked to as many lead sources as you want
- This is a user-definable choice list. Click the drop down, then click "Edit" to add/remove items from the list.

Type: The type can be used to group Lead Sources (e.g. Internet or Print Advertising).

- Start Date: The date when the campaign begins, in MM/DD/YY format.
- Stop Date: The date when the campaign ends, in MM/DD/YY format.

View History: Click here to view a history of the Lead Source's usage. You can view the following:
- Sales
- Cost of Goods Sold
- Initial Sales
- Repeat Sales
- Leads Generated
- Sales Generated
- Inactive: Check this box to deactivate the lead source.
- Total Impressions: This can be used to record the number of impressions that were made during the campaign.
- Cost Total: The total cost associated with the Lead Source.
- Memo: This free-form fields can contain any notes related to the Lead Source.
2. Assign a Lead Source to a customer
Navigate to Sales ➤ Sales Master and open an existing Client record. The Lead Source can be entered under the Attributes section.
3. Assign a Lead Source to a sales order
If the Lead Source has already been assigned to the Client, it will populate here automatically.
If the Lead Source has not been assigned to the Client OR if this order is related to a different Lead Source, any existing Lead Source can be entered here manually.
