Product Lookup
AcctVantage now has an advanced Product Lookup tool which allows you to find & add products to the order. The system will automatically search a variety of criteria to populate the search results.
Open the Product Lookup screen
Navigate to Sales -> Sales Orders & Quotes and create a new order/quote. Click the Product Lookup button to open the advanced search.
Enter search text
Enter your search text in the Search field. The system will begin searching when at least 3 characters are entered.
To add a product to the order, double-click the product line item in the search screen. Each time it is double-clicked will increment the Order Qty by +1 (using the default unit of measure).
Example scenario
In the example below, we've searched for the text string "wid".
This string appears in either the Product Name, Part Number or Vendor P/N column for all but one item.
The last line item -- Part Number A4 -- has an non-default alias which contains the string "wid". Only the default Alias will be displayed even when a different Alias for the same Product contains the matching string.
Product Lookup search fields
The system will attempt to match the search text to any of these values:
- Part Number
- Product Name
- SKU
- Primary Vendor Part Number
- Primary Vendor Bar Code
- Secondary Vendor Part Number
- Secondary Vendor Bar Code
- Product Alias
- All aliases will be searched, however, if a match is found only the Product's Default Alias will be displayed in the Alias column of the Product Lookup screen.
Notes about search results
The Product Lookup search works similar to a web browser search. If multiple words are entered they do not need to appear in the exact order or even within the same field to be a match.
For a Product record which has Part Number = "ABC 123" and Product Name = "XYZ 789", a search for "ABC 789" will return this product in the search results.

Search text also does not need to match full words. Each string of text will automatically be searched using a "contains" style search. For example, a search for "BCD 234" is actually a search for where any of the searched fields contains either "@BCD@" or "@234@".
A Product record that has Part Number = "12345" and Product Name = "ABCDE" will be returned as a result with this search string.
Other Notes about the Product Lookup
- Clicking the Product Lookup button in the Sales Order screen will open the Product Lookup window.
- Clicking the Product Lookup button more than once does not open multiple windows; instead it brings the Product Lookup window to the front.
- If multiple Sales Order screens are open at once, the Order Number in the upper right of the Product Lookup window will always match the last POS window that had focus (i.e was the front-most window.)
- The search will automatically start 1 second after the last key stroke if there are 3 or more typed characters. Pressing the enter/return key will force a search if there are fewer than 3 characters.
- An icon appears when a query starts, and disappears when the results are displayed.
- Products cannot be added to Sales Orders that have been marked Shipped.
