Error when starting Windows AV Client
If you see this error when starting the AV Client on Windows OS, then there is a permissions issue for the "4D Connection" file in the AV Client folder. This is a file that the AV Client uses to store the IP Address of the AV Server.
See below for instructions on how to stop the error from appearing.
Set permissions to read/write
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to this directory: C:\Program Files\AcctVantage ERP 2025 Client\
Right-click on the folder to see the Properties window.
In the folder Properties window, highlight the account(s) that will need the updated permission. Typically this only needs to be done for "Users" but could also be other groups or users, depending on how you're logging into Windows.
You should see missing permissions for Full Control, Modify and Write. Click the Edit button to fix this.
Once again, highlight the account(s) that will need the updated permission. Check the permission for Full Control, then click Apply, then click OK to save.
If done correctly, you will see all of the permissions are now enabled. Click OK to finish.
