Network Layer settings

We recommend to only change this setting if you are experiencing network-related issues when using AcctVantage in a client/server environment.

If your network is performing well when using AcctVantage, we recommend to leave this set to the default setting.

On the AV server, navigate to File Settings User Settings for Data File.

The pages for User Settings and User Settings for Data file look very similar to each other.

We recommend to make changes via User Settings for Data file since these settings take the highest priority of all settings.

2. Network layer setting

Select the Client-server tab to find the Network layer setting in the middle of the page.

Of these 3 options, we recommend to use ServerNet unless you are experiencing network related issues between the AV client and server. In those instances, we recommend to change the setting to the QUIC network layer.

  • Legacy: no longer used
  • ServerNet: This is the default setting.
    • No other changes are necessary
  • QUIC: This setting is only available when using AV 2025 or newer.
    • Ensure UDP is allowed through your firewall and routers, as this network layer runs on UDP instead of TCP.
    • Includes automatic TLS encryption.
    • Includes automatic network switching, which allows a client-server connection to switch between ethernet and wifi without interrupting ongoing tasks.
    • Port Number 19813 is used automatically.
    • The client-server connections timeout setting is removed.
