Global Replace for Assembly/Kit Components

The Global Replace function can be leveraged in several ways to batch update the Bill of Materials for Assembly or Kit products:

  1. Add a new component.
  2. Remove an existing component.
  3. Swap out a common component.

1. Select the Products that need to have the Bill of Materials modified

To begin, you will first need to select the Products that need to have the BOM modified:

  1. Navigate to Warehouse Management -> Products.
  2. Find and highlight the list of Assemblies or Kits that you need to modify the Bill of Materials for.
  3. Go to the List menu (top of the screen) and select Global Replace and then go to the Price Breaks & Components tab.
  4. In the Recipe Components section, select one of the following options: Add, Delete or Replace.
  • This part of the Global Replace function only works for Assembly and/or Kit Products.
  • If you are using the Replace or Delete feature then these Products must all have a common component on each respective Bill of Materials.
  • If you are using the Add feature, then they don't need to share a common BOM component.
  • There is no "Undo" function here. It is always our recommendation to run a backup of the database before changing data in this manner.

2. Add, Remove or Replace BOM components

A. Add a new component

  1. Select the Add button.
  2. Enter the data below.
  3. Click OK to process the changes. The new component will be added to the selected BOMs.
  • Add Part Number: Enter the part number to add to the BOM.
  • Quantity: Enter the quantity of the part number to be added.
  • Unit Sell Price: The sell price of the component.
  • Line Memo: Optional line memo (typically only used when printing BOM).

B. Remove an existing component

  1. Select the Delete button.
  2. Enter the Delete/Replace Part Number.
  3. Click OK to process the changes. The existing component will be removed from the selected BOMs.

C. Replace a common component with a different component

  1. Select the Replace button.
  2. Enter the data below.
  3. Click OK to process the changes. The existing component will be removed and the new component will be added to the selected BOMs.
  • Delete/Replace Part Number: Enter the part number to remove from the BOM.
  • Add Part Number: Enter the part number to add to the BOM.
  • Quantity: Enter the quantity of the part number to be added.
  • Unit Sell Price: The sell price of the component.
  • Line Memo: Optional line memo (typically only used when printing BOM).

When the routine is finished updating the items you've selected, you will see the Global Replace Log that will display the list of Products that have changed.
