Can I receive more inventory than was ordered on a PO?
The short answer is YES, you can receive more inventory than was originally ordered on a Purchase Order.
Example
In the example below, we ordered 10 widgets. However, the vendor actually shipped 11 widgets. We will need to account for this extra inventory when receiving the PO.
How to over-receive a PO
- Highlight the line item to receive.
- Click the Receive Selected button.
- Enter the actual quantity to receive. When you do this, you will get an additional dialog asking you to confirm.
- Click Yes to proceed. Now you can continue receiving other items or save the PO.
Purchase Analysis example
After the PO has been received, the system will retain the original ordered quantity and the actual received quantity.
