How to change the network layer after upgrading to AV 2027

4D v21 introduces a new network layer called QUIC. This network layer offers better overall stability and includes seamless network-switching, which means clients will not disconnect when switching between ethernet and wifi.

  1. On the server hardware, open the Server Administration window. This window will most likely already be open but if it's not, open it by selecting the Window menu ➤ Administration.
  2. Go to the File menu ➤ Settings ➤ User Settings for Data file.

  2. Change the Network layer to QUIC.

  • Ensure UDP is allowed through your firewall and routers, as this network layer runs on UDP instead of TCP.
  • Includes automatic TLS encryption.
  • Includes automatic network switching, which allows a client-server connection to switch between ethernet and wifi without interrupting ongoing tasks.
  • Port Number 19813 is used automatically.
  • The client-server connections timeout setting is removed.
