Sub Work Orders

If you have an Assembly Product that has another Assembly as part of the Bill of Materials you can enable the creation of a Sub Work Order for the Sub Assembly Product.

This article refers to manually created Work Orders. However, there are a couple other scenarios to mention:

When creating Work Orders via the Auto Work Order function, Sub Work Orders will be created only one layer deep. In other words, the Parent WO and one Sub WO will be created. Nested Sub-assemblies (i.e. more than one layer deep) will not be built.

When building Assemblies via Auto-build, Sub Work Orders will not be created at all.

1. Enable Auto Sub Work Orders for a Sub Assembly

  1. Go to Warehouse Management > Products and open the Sub Assembly Product.
  2. Click on the Bill of Materials tab and check the box for Create Sub-WO.
  3. Click OK to save.

This will enable the Work Order for the Sub Assembly to be automatically created when the Parent Assembly Work Order is saved.

2. The Parent Assembly's Work Order.

With the Create Sub-WO option in the previous step enabled, the Sub WO column will already be checked for any Sub Assemblies that are part of the Parent Assembly's Recipe.

When the Parent Assembly's Work Order is saved AcctVantage will create a Work Order for the Sub Assembly. The creation of the Sub Work Order may take a few seconds to occur.

You can always check (or uncheck) the Sub WO column manually.

3. Find Sub Work Orders

In the Work Order list view, highlight the Parent WO then go to the Action Menu and select Find sub-work orders. This will bring up a list of any sub work orders related that were created via the parent work order.
