Void Ord-BO and Reopen the Backorder

This article illustrates how to reopen a Backorder if it has already been filled by an Ord-BO.

Requirements:

  • The original Sales Order must have been posted.
  • An Ord-BO must have already been created via the Backorder.
  • The Ord-BO must NOT have been posted.
  • The following settings must be set to True (see below).

Setup

To set this up, you will need to enable a setting in System Configuration and also in any User record who you want to have this permission.

System Configuration

  1. Navigate to Administration > System Configuration.
  2. Select Sales Document from the drop-down menu.
  3. Scroll down until you find the setting Reopen BO on Ord-BO Void.
  4. Double-click to set this to True.
  5. Save System Configuration.

User Access Levels

  1. Navigate to Administration > User Access Levels.
  2. Click on the System Access tab.
  3. Scroll down until you find the setting Reopen BO on Ord-BO Void.
  4. Double-click to set this to True.
  5. Save the User record.
  6. Repeat for each user who needs to have this permission.

1. Void the Ord-BO

Highlight the Ord-BO and use the List menu to Void the order.

2. Do you want to reopen BO?

When you void the Ord-BO, you will receive a prompt: Do you want to reopen BO for Order <order #>?

  • Yes: The original Backorder will be reopened and the quantity remaining to fill will be reset to the what it was before the Ord-BO was created.
  • No: The original Backorder will not be reopened and no quantities will be changed.

3. Backorder is reopened

The original Backorder record has been reopened and the quantity remaining to fill has been reset to its original value.
